Aluminized Steel Chain Link Fence Fabric
provide exceptional security and protection in commercial,
industrial, institutional, recreational, and highway
applications.
That's because aluminized chain link exhibits superior
corrosion-, rust-, and fire-resistance. The result is
longer fence life with minimal maintenance.
"Aluminizing" Makes Durable
Aluminized Steel Chain Link Fabric is manufactured by
coating drawn steel wire with commercially pure aluminum
using a hot-dip process. The wire is then woven into
chain link fabric.
After weaving, the cut ends of the wire are coated with
a clear, acrylic lacquer, to help retard formation of
rust.
The patented aluminizing process produces an exceptionally
smooth coating that is bonded to the steel wire.
Aluminized fence fabric is sealed and protected from
the corrosive effects of water, snow, wind, sun, salt
spray, and pollution, iit continues to provide protection
year after year after year!
In contrast, galvanized fence fabric is dipped in zinc
after it is woven. This method creates zinc drips which
become "needle points," very sharp cones that
are dangerous and unsightly. Galvanizing after weaving
also creates fused joints where wire crosses wire. These
joints break when the fabric is erected, exposing raw
steel -- rusting begins immediately.
Aluminum has the unique quality of forming its own protective
oxide film immediately upon exposure to the atmosphere.
This oxide film, which is not water soluble, protects
the material from further oxidation. If the film is
removed by abrasion, it immediately re-forms and continues
to protect the material.
Should the aluminum coating be abraded or otherwise
removed, exposing the bare steel, a unique "healing"
action takes place -- the aluminum oxide migrates over
the exposed steel, preventing any progression of rust!
ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) is
conducting an ongoing study comparing the effects of
various environments on aluminized and galvanized steel
fence fabrics. Test sites are located throughout the
country in every type of environment... from rural to
industrial to seaside.
The results? After 20 years, in every location, aluminized
steel fence fabric stood the test of time, remain smooth,
safe, and virtually rust-free. Galvanized fence fabric,
on the other hand, pitted, rusted through, and corroded.
To accommodate your secific fencing needs, aluminized
fence fabric is available in a wide selection of heights
-- from 36" to 240". It is available in 6,
9, and 11 gage. |
